Email

Resend sends every email the platform writes. Clerk sends its own. DNS records on the domain keep it deliverable.

Resend

What it does. Sends every email the platform composes: application decisions, welcome, session confirmations and reminders, event invitations and digests, nudges, match notices, announcements, application alerts and copies of in-app reports.

The sender. Impact Hub Houston <info@impacthubos.com>, set by EMAIL_FROM. Some messages change the display name to the staff member sending them while keeping the address. The domain impacthubos.com is verified in Resend.

Where to look.

  • Emails: every message, delivered or bounced or suppressed, with opens.
  • Domains: verification state and the DNS records it expects.
  • Suppressions: addresses that bounced and will not be sent to until removed.
  • API Keys: rotate here, then update RESEND_API_KEY on Vercel.

The log. The platform also records every attempt in its own email_log table with the status sent, failed or skipped, and the body as sent. Settings, Email Templates shows per-template counts from it. Addresses ending in @example.com (demo members) are always skipped.

Broadcasts. Announcements and digests go only to people who have signed in at least once. Imported contacts and invited-but-not-joined people never receive them.

DNS Records

In GoDaddy, for impacthubos.com: the DKIM record, the SPF include, and the return-path CNAME that Resend's Domains page lists. If the domain moves, these move with it or email stops being delivered.

Clerk's Email

Invitations, sign-in codes and password resets are sent by Clerk from its own sender. They are not in Resend or the platform log; look under the user in Clerk's dashboard. The current Clerk plan does not allow custom templates for those, so they carry Clerk's default styling.

Who Is Notified Internally

APPLICATION_NOTIFY_EMAILS (a comma-separated list on Vercel) receives new-application alerts and copies of in-app reports. When unset it defaults to Grace and Maria.

Editing the Words

Every platform email is editable, testable and switchable under Settings, Email Templates. See Email Templates.
