Matching and AI

Matching and AI

Nexus ranks matches, searches members and hosts video rooms. OpenRouter provides the model behind the OS Agent.

Nexus

What it does. The partner matching service. The platform sends it members (profile, business, needs, expertise) as they change and in a daily bulk sync, and asks it to:

  • rank mentors for a founder (/match), with plain-language reasons the Matching page shows,
  • search members semantically (the directory's AI search and the Book a Session search),
  • create video rooms for sessions and record attendance,
  • learn from outcomes (accepted, declined, completed, check-in results), reported back daily.

Configuration. NEXUS_API_URL, NEXUS_API_KEY (sent as a header on every call), NEXUS_OUTCOMES_PATH. Without a URL and key the platform uses a built-in stub ranker and creates no rooms, so development never depends on Nexus being up.

Tuning. NEXUS_MATCH_MIN_SCORE (default 0.8), MATCH_FOUNDER_RUN_CAP (5 new suggestions per founder per run), MATCH_SUPPORTER_OPEN_CAP (3 open matches per mentor).

What never goes to Nexus. Private notes, admin ratings, decline reasons, and anything marked internal. Members who are deactivated or hidden are removed from the corpus.

Where it lives in the code. lib/nexus/ (client, sync, outcome reporting) and lib/matching/ (the engine, eligibility, gates, notices, check-ins). The contract for the Nexus side is INTEGRATION.md in the repository.

OpenRouter

What it does. Provides the language model for two admin-only features: the OS Agent (the assistant panel, which answers questions about members, sessions, events and counts using read-only tools) and the insights on the admin Overview.

Configuration. OPENROUTER_API_KEY. The model name is in lib/agent/models.ts. Without a key, both features are off and say so; nothing else is affected. ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is a fallback used only when there is no OpenRouter key.

What it can and cannot do. The agent reads; it never writes. It is available to admins and developers only, and it is not shown to members.

The Assessment and Stage

Stage is not AI. It is a scored questionnaire with weights and bands that admins edit under Settings, Forms and Settings, Stage Bands. See Forms and Fields.
