Matching

How suggested matches are made, the review queue, the approval mode switch, manual matches, and the check-in.

Where

In the rail under People, Matching: "Review suggested matches, introduce them to the supporter, or pair two people yourself."

How a Match Is Made

Every day at 12:30 UTC the matching engine syncs members to Nexus and asks it to rank mentors for each founder who is ready (profile complete, business described, assessment taken if the business is registered). Each founder gets at most five new suggestions per run, and a mentor holds at most three open matches at a time. Suggestions below the score threshold are dropped. You can also click Find matches in the toolbar to run it now.

A match then passes through two gates:

  1. Gate A, your team. The suggestion sits in the queue as Needs Review until an admin clicks Introduce or Not a Fit.
  2. Gate B, the supporter. The mentor is emailed and asked to accept. They have 14 days, with a reminder on day 7. Accepting introduces both people; declining or letting it expire closes it quietly.

The Approval Mode Switch

The toolbar button reads Your Team Reviews First or Mentors Decide Alone. Click it to open Who Approves a Match?:

  • Support Stack curates, then the supporter confirms (both gates)
  • The supporter decides on their own (Gate B only)

Switching to supporter-only shows the warning "Nobody Will Review Suggestions First". Click Save. This was built as a setting on purpose: Impact Hub Houston asked to start with the admin gate while the suggestions earn trust, then hand decisions to mentors.

The Queue

Columns: Entrepreneur, Supporter, Score ("By hand" for manual matches), Status, Outcome. Statuses: Needs Review, With Supporter, Approved, Not a Fit, Declined, Expired. Search by either name; filter by Status and Outcome.

Click a row to open the review dialog: Why This Match (the reasons Nexus gave), They asked for (the founder's stated needs), How It Went (both sides' check-ins once there are any), and Team Ratings of the Mentor from past sessions. Buttons: Not a Fit, Close, Introduce Them.

Marking Not a Fit tells nobody; the pair is simply not suggested again.

A Manual Match

New Match in the toolbar (or Create Match from the + button in the rail): pick the Entrepreneur and the Supporter, write Why this match, click Create Match. It enters the queue as a hand-made match and goes to the supporter like any other.

The Check-In

The strip above the table says how many days after the supporter accepts both people are asked how it is going. Change opens When to Check In (3 to 90 days). Answers appear in the review dialog and on the member's own Matches, Feedback tab.

Readiness

A founder with an incomplete profile is never suggested. The readiness list on their Overview says what is missing. What counts as required is set under Settings, Member Fields (the Required to be matched switch).

Outcomes and Learning

Accepted, declined, completed and check-in results are reported back to Nexus daily so its ranking improves. Nothing a member writes in a private note leaves the platform.
